About Steve

I’m Steve Cappello, candidate for Medford Township Board of Education.  I am a husband, father of four, and professional educator.  I’m excited to have an opportunity to serve the community that has been so giving to me and my family.  I began my teaching career right here in Medford as a teacher at Shawnee High School.  It was there that I learned how special Medford Township is and decided this was the place I wanted to raise my family.

After seven rewarding years in the classroom, I left Shawnee to pursue a career in educational administration.  I served as the Director of Technology for the Maple Shade School District for six years.  Presently, I am the principal of the Howard R. Yocum Elementary School.  During my time in administration I served for a brief time as the President of the Burlington County Principals and Supervisors Assosciation and as a member of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisor Association.  Along the way, I earned my law degree, a Master in Educational Leadership and taught adjunct classes at Camden County College.

During my career I have worked with students from age 4 to well into their 60s.  I have been incredibly lucky to get to work with so many students who have touched my life.  I am asking that my neighbors in Medford consider me when voting on November 3rd.  Thank you for your support.
